Times change now. For 2017 to 2020, Seagate is going to be a more-reliable brand than Western Digital due to improved new packaging and color, and it says, "Dependable" at the box outside. So, it was tested and designed much better and more-reliable than previous years. I have more faith with Seagate than before, and I'm confident more people will come in shortly. Brands that were previously rated last for reliability don't stay at the end forever.

Including Toshiba, Seagate is the only one to build 2TB and 3TB 7200rpm drives. Western Digital 2TBs+ (except Black) are all Green-type, 5400RPM Intelipower.

I'd really check out backblaze data on the drive if available. Not that Seagate didn't suck, but they do have some reliable models.

The only thing assured by you and your bright color packaging whos 20% extra brightness and new and improved purple and yellow logo that will ensure hard drive failures are a thing of the past is that seagate is so bad they had to pay people to spam such things on SD to get rid of their product
LMAO
possibly in for 1 because im sd and microcenter junkie
So are you claiming that not only will the bright new colors make the HDD last longer,t hat all my hitachi drives above 2tb are NOT 7200rpm?

Ahh, apparently they phased out 1 TB drives a couple of years back. I do have this drive, and it works fine, but I agree I'm but a small sample. If you have a microcenter near you, it is a good deal. Otherwise stay away.

Yes, Toshiba is a Hitachi, no difference. HGST, Hitachi, and Toshiba are all 7200rpm.

I know I'm a bit late, but I literally just picked up one of these drives a couple weeks ago for $45ish. I came here to slickdeals to see if Microcenter had any others because I hate this drive so bad.

The drive constantly spins up (just using for backup files. not even being accessed) and makes the most obnoxious buzzing/vibrating sound ever. I tried screwing it into the drive bay, but that didn't help much.

All in all, no more cheaping out. Back to WD drives.
