I saw this SSD on clearance at Costco NH Nashua store. It is an external SSD. Not sure the discount is nationwide.

cheap ?
This is the bottom brand and bottom performance SSD.
512GB SSD was always under $100 last year.
This year memory price rose for the demand
512gb SSD for under $100? please show me

Thanks, OP. I'll have to go check it out and see if my local Costco has it. Will be a nice spare drive.

Hey buddy, the difference between the ones you are referring to and the one OP posted is... OP's is portable, which means it can be used on the go, while yours cannot.

Please note that Micron, the parent company of Lexar, is shutting down Lexar brand. Micron is promising customer service during "transition period", but does not speak of fulfilling full warranty period of every products bought. Lexar products were pretty good in my experience and I doubt many will have problem requiring customer service, but it's something to think about before pulling the trigger.

Has anyone opened up one of these drives and/or knows what is instead? Is it an M.2/msata drive or chips soldier on a board?

I would be a bit hesitant to lose a warranty on an SSD drive...

I've already gone through two (OCZ 60gb sf controller and a SanDisk extreme 240gb). The ocz was rma'ed under warranty as it died pretty quick but the SanDisk was just a few months outside of warranty and I almost lost my Bitcoin wallet bc of that 😱

This drive was posted on reddit a couple days ago. It is not shuckable/removable. Some more pics and benchmarks etc here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoar...g_attempt/
