Myself and a coworker both have this model Zook. We've both had to have our screens and fans replaced. My coworkers laptops Motherboard crapped the bed this weekend. We're both automation engineers. Just giving you our HP experience. HPs support has been good but you're going to want a warranty

Great Laptop, Good Price. But I am not convinced this is ( real ) HP 1 year warranty. Anyone that has purchased from Woot in the past can weigh in on the authenticity of the Warranty that Woot is claiming to offer??

Damn, how's the build quality in ZBooks? I know it's supposed to be a "professional" laptop but judging from the pics it kinda looks like any regular plasticky laptop.

Would love to get this for photo/video editing (Lightroom and Premiere) if the screen is good. Anyone have experience with this laptop and want to comment on build and screen quality?

Build quality is superb. It looks plastic but is actually a rubbery coating on metal. Battery life, expansion options (m.2 nvme, 2.5" bay, 4x DDR4 16GB each, easy access), and build quality are the best features. I'd prefer a higher resolution touchscreen in this price range. Keyboard is average.

If I was looking for a business machine in this class, this would probably be near the top of my list. I just haven't been looking into this class of machine lately, so make sure to research slickdeals first.

not plasticy at all. I have this laptop for work and it has a nice build to it. It feels more expensive than a thinkpad, but I prefer the feel of a thinkpad. It is very thin, but very heavy for its size. I don't like the mousepad. I think HP tried to duplicate the Apple trackpad and failed.

I use this laptop for work (engineer). It is a beast with 32GB RAM and M.2 SSD. It will outrun our HP Z430 workstations on NASTRAN jobs. I've had it about a year with zero issues.

In which application, you have understand that before saying that it will perform like GTX 950M. All workstation graphics cards have same hardware as the gaming counterparts. The difference is in Workstation optimized drivers. Quadro cards use different drivers which have been optimized for applications, not for gaming and that is the reason, they cost so high. A GTX 980 costs probably $300 now but the workstation counterpart costs over $1500.
If you are using software like CAD, 3d Studio max, Catia, Simulations, algorithms then this Quadro M1000M can beat higher end graphics cards like a GTX 1050 or Ti.

No, not upgradable. But it has Thunderbolt 3 ports and you can easily use a external GPU dock and use far more powerful Desktop cards.
