Don't forget $25 off w/ masterpass

Really tempted here, but there are a few 1-star reviews on Amazon saying the projector failed right after 1 year warranty is up.
EDIT: after further snooping, looks like the negative reviews are for the older 3000 lumen model; amazon combines both models in the reviews. There are only 3 reviews for this model, all positive, but all Vine reviewers who got if for free (this one came out late 2016 so there's no way of knowing if it fails after a year).

I don't trust Acer projectors after mine developed dust blobs in under a month.

For me it was at the 13-month mark, right after the warranty expired. I contacted them about paying for service to clean it and they acted liked I was a complete stranger. Even with money in hand, they said they couldn't do it and didn't suggest a third-party that would.

The dust filters on these Acers must be really poor quality.

Yup even when I tried to return the item which was under 30 days they told me they couldn't do anything for me. It was only after I initiated a charge back with my credit card company did they come around. That experience pretty much killed my otherwise positive relationship with Acer products.

At least with computing products I can perform repairs on my own. With dust in an item like this, it's not only a very intricate job to perform in a dust controlled environment, but there's a good chance it could end up even worse after disassembly.

Review...there's only one. Are you aware of the concept of sample size?

Those reviews are all for the older H6510BD and 4.2 out of 5 from 159 is not bad at all. No reviews for this newer H6502BD have been provided on Amazon yet.

That said, the negative experience I had involving dust on the previous model forces me to steer clear of this otherwise good deal.

Lens compartment. Enough that I could see a few lightly discolored white circles in the image during dark scenes.
