This is by far the most popular capture card on the market, but you should really save a few bucks more for an hd60 pro PCIe or Avermedia GC 550. Both go on sale for 120-130 all the time.

Uhmmmm stupid question but can I also use this as a screen capture device for my PC? That is, I just want to record exactly what's going on on my Windows 7 computer, including opening stuff in desktop and etc.

Just get Open Broadcast. Free and better for that.

Like the other person said, just download OBS and stream/record from there. It's really easy to set up.

Yes you can. I'm a IT educational video producer in my company (>10k employees) and I use the HD60. Pretty good feedback on the quality of the videos.

Some parts where it came in really handy was when I was making Windows 10 videos, showing the whole boot up and log in process - not possible if using a software solution.

Also, video training for telepresence machines and Unix systems got so much easier with this.

Usually I use Camtasia for most windows and mac recording as you get mouse cursor movement and clicks recorded.

You can pick up an HD 60 pro refurb for 140 any day http://www.ebay.com/itm/Elgato-Ga...2108708500

Hd60 has a 40mbps bitrate Vs 60mbs on hd60pro/Avermedia which also have a lagfree live preview as opposed to this old card. The avermedia card is just as portable as hd60, but has higher quality recording, mic input, and ps3 compatibility.

Neat, kids watching kids playing video games. Couldn't think of anything better to do with my time.
