Because they suck. Anything outside of a Vizio P series or OLED is a wash this year.

I've been in the market for a TV I've been lurking for many years. So I shouldn't pull the trigger on this Samsung? This tv will replace a shitty LG I have in my living room which will be moved to the bedroom and used for Xbox / movies. I want a tv that will last 4-5 years.

I'm scared of Samsung TV, LG too since they're cut from the same cloth.! My sammies of plasma, led, LCD etc all conveniently died within a year or max 15 months. All sitting in the damn garage since I don't have a big vehicle to throw them out. Ordered all online from EBay to Frys to Abe of Maine.

True, true. But, they border on OLED prices.

The TCL blows this thing out of the water. This has no local dimming (which would suck even if it did have it as this crap is edge lit). The TCL is the gold standard of local dimming as it is full array.

Now, on to the brightness. Rtings has the TCL pegged at (lol) an insane 200 nits brighter.

This tv just plain sucks. Get the TCL.

You are probably right. However you can be Edge Lit and still be good. I have also seen some really bad full array with local dimming

I haven't researched tvs in years. But getting a move and need to buy a tv. I'm of the mind set to get a good top of the line set and have it last a long time. How the heck do I shop for a tv now? What technology is out? What do I look for?
