Stick with me here. Read all of it.
If you combine this with TMobile jump on demand plan, where you get a new phone every 30 days, you essential can get all the hot accessories for each new phone. I have a free LG 360 CAM for getting the g5. A Google home for getting the g6. A Samsung gear VR for getting Galaxy few years back. With the 30 day plan you can phone hop and get all the accessories before the promotion runs out. Some accessories require the phone but most don't.
I currently use a one plus 5 as a daily driver, and have a Moto z play + battery mods for long trips. I do pay 7/month for a Samsung j7. That is in a box never even opened it. I only have it to maintain my jump on demand but keep my bill low. I plan to get this mod for my Moto z play. When Samsung finally adds the 360 camera. I'll switch to the s8. When the pixel 2 comes and Google offers the day dream or Google home I'll switch again,, and so on and so forth. I've never had to pay for return and getting a new phone. So I don't see this monthly or bi-monthly exchange as a hassle.

1. that means you are always leasing and paying? Yes but after a month of paying that higher price just jump back to the cheaper phone next month while you wait for the next few promotion. I would decline the insurance since you do not plan on using the phone. Some stores will fight you on that but others are more lax.
2. I don't have an extra phone. Then this is not a good idea for you. This will be a headache to switch contacts, photos, and etc.
3. Why waste your time in a dumb post? Because I'm obessed with free stuff.
