Monoprice has the Yale Real Living Motorized Deadbolt with Z-Wave on sale for $79.99 again. Only one color this time unfortunately. Price is good for only today 8/16/17.

I have a couple of these that I use with SmartThings and they work very well. I use this Device Handler [github.com].

Previous front page at same price for reference

I bought 3 a month ago during the prior sale. All were clearly open box. One was missing the zwave module, another the box and inner liner was damaged and the third had a different brand of batteries loose in the box. None would successfully sync to my Vera, which has 2 other locks already connected.

Monoprice ignored my emails for more than a week and my Twitter messages. There was another review for a different finish the same week with similar open-box issues.

It is my one bad monoprice experience.

But the deal is so good I am considering trying again, assuming my rma refund has finally showed up.

Oh wow. Like you said, that's definitely not typical Monoprice. Sorry to hear that happened. They've even been quick to refund me the couple times I needed to get refunds from them. The only thing I don't like is the shipping can get pricey on their bulk cables.
I'm sure you had trouble getting it connected because they were paired to a different hub before and not excluded properly. Easiest thing in the future is get one of those minimotes that are seen here on slickdeals every month or two. It can exclude devices from your network and much more reliably. Plus, it's a remote to control things in between those times you're excluding and including to the network.

These days the first think I do with every zwave device is the factory reset command.

One wasn't seen by the Vera at all and the other would do the initial handshake but would not finish the setup. Naturally the one missing the zwave module didn't work.

Fyi, if the zwave module is missing, the "blink" menu won't accept the network command. That's what had me check to see if the module was loose.

And it took 10 days from the time I sent the initial "something is wrong" email until I got a non-automated response.

To jump on the customer service bandwagon, I just had my first experience of contacting monoprice, and I received an email THIRTEEN days later. Love the products but that amount of time is unacceptable. Just warning!!

Something has to be happening at Monoprice, because not but a day or two later, I had my first horrible Monoprice experience also. They never informed me they were holding my entire order of about 12 or 13 items because they didn't have one item at that specific warehouse. I had needed these items for a project and had made sure to order with sufficient time to ship and receive. I noticed 3 days after ordering that there was no tracking number on my order but yet all items were marked as shipped. Contacted them and they told me they were tracking down that last item and asked if I wanted to split the order and have everything sent as two shipments. Told them that of course I'd want to do that because I needed the items plus the one item they couldn't find was unrelated and I just threw it in there as a might as well. They said I might be contacted by the second warehouse but everything would be sent the next day. Well, all I get the next day is a notice that the first set of items had finally shipped and a second notice saying they're cancelling that final item. So, all they did was was delay my order for their incompetence and my items have yet to arrive. I needed them for this weekend. No apologies or anything. They've found themselves on my craplist. I took a look and it seems that within the last couple months, they've been getting more and more bad reviews. All reviews at resellerratings are 1 star in that time. So, it really looks like they've just gone majorly downhill. I'm just wondering how long it would have taken them before they did anything if I didn't contact them by chat 3 days after I ordered. Would it have sat for weeks seeing as how they marked it shipped when it clearly wasn't and they didn't even have that last item to ship in the first place? I'm steering clear of Monoprice for now unless there's something that's just too good to pass up and even then, I'll make sure I don't need it anytime soon.

Well kigmatzomat nailed it on the head.

Ordered 2, 1 was open. Came with rechargeable batteries loose in the package.

Waiting on Monoprice to get back to me. I called and talked to customer service. The guy said he didn't have a supervisor that could authorize a return.

Just tried to get an online RMA. Return timeframe on this item: 1 DAY!!!

Holy smokes what happened to monoprice? Horrible reviews. Used to buy from them all the time. 😡
