Agreed, weird. For a dollar more they have the original layout (albeit in monochrome):

The fact that these will set off tons of SNES classic alerts almost seems intentional...

Yay, more crap controllers. 8bitdo is the only company that consistently gets the d-pad and buttons right. If you didn't grow up playing with Nintendo branded controllers, you might not notice, but if you did you certainly will.

On the subject of controllers...what are some good controllers (wireless or wired) to play Minecraft or other Android 7.0 tablet games? I have Wii and Xbox 360 (with PC adapter) controllers currently, but haven't tried them out yet using the tablet. Not sure if those will be good or should I look elsewhere.

Ibuffalo makes a fantastic usb snes controller. They are the only ones I will buy, though they do run $15-20 each.

Look into moga products. I have an old moga pro I use to play n64 games on my phone on the bus. Basically an Xbox controller with a phone clip.

Ibuffalo was discontinued and iNexxt took its place.

I strongly suggest spending a little bit more money and getting an 8Bitdo controller.

I don't like the d-pad on the iBuffalo's. Not only is it raised higher, it's a cross shaped dpad instead of a round one (if you take it apart and look at the switches, you'll see what I mean), which gives it an entirely different feel. It makes precision platformers a lot more difficult and games like LoZ and Mystical Ninja handle poorly. If you're a Mortal Kombat fan, it's actually the best SNES controller I've used, but that's where my preference towards the iBuffalo ends.

It's definitely the best "cheap" SNES controller, but I'll take an original with a USB adapter or an 8bitdo over it anyday.

The new Xbox One Wireless with Bluetooth might work, otherwise i've heard that 8bitdo's stuff is really good.

Otherwise a cheaper one like something from moga will do just fine.

Anyone tried EEEKit NES or Quimat SNES ones?

Giving a retropie to my sister and fiance but I need some relatively cheap controller, hoping to get to get my NES that I "lent" to them back (had original everything including receipt)
