Not bad if you use Google Voice for text and call if 100m 100t is not just enough.

Great price for low usage or emergency line to keep in the car.

Pretty good price, but - depending on your usage profile, paygo plans might be better. I put my son on a tello paygo plan, and he's been averaging about $0.15 (yes, 15 cents)/month in charges.

99% of the time, he's covered by Wifi, so it's really just an emergency ability to get ahold of him. Sure, Tello is Sprint - which may not work as well for everyone, but if you want a pure "kids and elderly" -> you might be able to do even better.

so we do need to purchase a new kit every year? or are we able to renew the sim after the year is over?

also, are these nano sims? the sims look like full size sims to me..

edit: just kidding it says they will include any sim that you need if you ebay message them!

No actual voice or texts, lousy low-priority VoIP, have to keep billing info on file, no prepaid debit cards even on free plan.

With more and more people using only cellphone with no landline, 100 mins may not be enough for many. Also many banks or email/website accounts now use text message to verify you are the one logging in, text message usage are increasing also and 100 text a month also not that much.

Like someone said, may be good as backup phone using another network in case the signal is bad for your primary phone.

Oh God if you're going with prepaid why do you expect guarantees over a year?

That's usually a one-time thing, and if 100 isn't enough, get a bigger plan, it's nice to have this option though.

No actual voice or texts? Explain.. and if you are worried about credit card information being stored, just buy a sim off ebay..

Just buy a simple off eBay. No billing information needed.
I did, the seller removes the billing info after about a month, and your sim gets shut off, and he offers to sell you another one.
