the general consensus is that the QC35's lack in sound quality and ANC when compared to the PXC 550 or MDR1000x. Bose needs to release a new version to be competitive at this point in time. Another problem with Bose is that the sound stage you get when you first buy them sounds phenomenally better than after they're broken in.

I mean, just go read any comparison on the audiophile sites. This isn't a slice of fan boy-ism. If I'm spending over $300 on headphones, I want the best for my money. At this point, if you buy the Bose you're merely buying it for the name and not the features. I'm just offering the other options for those who are interested, but don't know other options exist. If time is a consideration, then jump on the QC35's (which is why I ended up with PXC 550's instead of MDR1000x's even though the Sony's slightly edge out the Sennheisers in ANC).

If you live by the Amazon rating system, you're going to die by the Amazon rating system. It's not perfect by a long shot.

ANC
1. MDR1000x
2. PXC 550
3. QC35

Sound Stage
1. PCX550
2. MDR1000x
3. QC35

Here's a pretty in depth review [flyertalk.com] if you're lazy and don't want to google yourself...CTRL+F "Bose" if you want to just read his opinions on the Bose. Always better when you do your own research and come to that conclusion on your own though.

For me, I just listened to all 3 of them at a Magnolias. Then waited for a deal on the MDR1000x or PXC 550. Fry's has the PXC 550 on sale all the time (like twice a month), and the MDR1000x's are on sale right now. Since I was leaving for a trip, and at the time the Sony's weren't on sale, I went with the PXC 550's. I could have returned and went with the Sonys eventually, but I was happy. I wanted better SQ rather than better ANC, so it worked out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT saying the QC 35's are a bad buy....Just mentioning the other contenders that seem to outperform for the same price when on sale.

You still heard her? These don't do much to remove frequencies such as speaking voices. I love mine, but let's not exaggerate.

Once upon a time, I used a set of these headphones while my wife was yapping about who does more work around the house....and guess what happened?

There's an expected hardware update coming for the QC35's (or possibly a new model).

This was identified by the addition of a new button to the alernate ear cup.

How do you get the $30 credit offer from AMEX? I looked in my account and it wasn't there. Guess it's a targeted offer?

Best wireless headphones I've ever tried. They charge really quickly and hold their charge for a long time. They're pretty easy to pair, unlike most Bluetooth devices. They're comfortable.

You're now divorced? Because no one comes between me and my music. No one.

Pxc 550 or MDR 1000x are better buys at the same price range.
