CPM 154 steel is considered better than what you'll find in a $15 knife.

What are you doing with this knife...skinning animals or as an EMT/LEO? If you are just using it for a pocket knife like most people...the $10 to $15 ones are just as good trust me.

Listen man, this is a slick deal for this knife... Different steels have different abilities to hold a sharp edge. I trust you that cheap steel can hold a great edge (I pay almost nothing for my safety razor blades) but with this knife you get a better steel, a popular design, good mechanics, made in the USA and whatever the Kershaw branding carries (along with it's warranty).

This. You're getting a seriously premium steel here. This is a deal for collectors or people who truely want a knife that holds a tough edge for a LONG time. This is a good deal for this knife.... it is not a deal for *a knife*.

Maybe if it was 8cr13mov or 7cr17mov or 440C it would be a poor deal. This carries a higher end steel which you can't get for $15.

I get that but, most people who want that steel buy better brands than Kershaw.

Allow me to clarify this post.

1 - "There is a deal at Ferrari! $90,000 for an new Ferrari FF"
2 - "OMFG I can buy a Ford Explorer for $30,000, and it will drive me places."
1 - "Yeah, but that's a Ford. I'm talking about a Ferrari."
2 - "Yeah, but $90,000 is more than $30,000!"
[blank stares (and smh) from both]

Edit: Replace Ferrari FF with Ford GT for a brand neutral analogy.
