Big John's has a coupon for $5 off. The deal on their homepage is 2 x 1 Lb for $37.95, so your price is $32.95. The coupon is supposed to be for orders over $100, but I just used it and it works. I haven't been able to get it this cheap in a long time and I don't know how long it will last.

coupon code: fire

Fiery BBQ and Black Pepper & Garlic are my favs. The Original is really good, too. I'd stick with the strips. The steak fries are a bit too tough to eat for my taste.

Oh...I should have mentioned. The email from last week mentioned a limited time extra hot version of their Fiery BBQ. I didn't get any this time, but if you want it, enter Inferno Style in the special instructions box. They're also doing it for Mango Jalapeno, but I've only had it once and it isn't my favorite.

Is their black pepper flavor the same as other brands peppered flaver & do they also have a hot & spicy flavor? I've never heard of Big John's Beef Jerky, is it really that good? I usually get Costco's Kirkland: Pacific Gold Hot & Spicy Beef Jerky $15.98 for 1lb, so $31.96 for two of'em equaling 2lbs. But the problem is they only ever have three flavors, Original, Teriyaki & Hot & Spicy, of which I always choose the latter, although peppered is my favorite flavor.

So it's $16 per lb for beef jerky. Where's the hot deal?

Their black pepper flavor is also strong on the garlic but it's comparable to other brands on the pepper scale.

They have three basic flavors that come in regular or fiery: traditional, BBQ and Teriyaki. The fiery versions of each have quite a kick so buying a full pound is a bit of risk if you can't handle the heat. They also have a siracha and the previously mentioned black pepper and garlic that only come in one level on the spice scale.

I'm not a big fan of either Teriyaki version but the BBQ and original are on point. The primary difference between this and packaged store jerky is that Big Johns runs on the dry side and is cut into long thin strips. If you like your jerky more moist I'd check out their fatty jerky which is more marbled but also molds over easily so you need to finish the whole package within 2-3 days once opened.

This is about as low as they have gone the last few years. If you like your jerky on the dry side with a more robust beef flavor this is the stuff to get and I'm not aware of any B&M store that sells a similar product, let alone at a lower price.

My husband loves beef jerky and I have unfortunately learned how expensive it is. Average beef jerky is a dollar an ounce, the better stuff goes even higher. So this would be a deal if it's a high-end beef jerky for the price of your everyday grocery store jerky. I have never tried it before, can someone with experience let us know what kind of quality this is? Thank you!

Why don't you buy a dehydrator [amazon.com] and make your own? If he's eating a lot of it you should save money and avoid him getting colon cancer from eating nitrites [aicr.org]. And note that this Big John's stuff has nitrites [bestbeefjerky.org]. Nasty!

He definitely doesn't eat that much, but a great idea for the major fans out there. He just likes the good stuff when he's in the mood for jerky Smilie

It's definitely my favorite jerky and I've been dropping $250 a year with them for the last decade. It runs on the dry side if you don't order the fatty versions, so your jaw is in for a workout if you don't suck on each piece for a bit before chewing.

I also stay away from the teriyaki version as it's way too sweet for my tastes, but if you like the sweet heat I know others who love it.

If you are over 45 years old I'd advise you to get a colonoscopy. If they find any polyps than stop eating this stuff - it will kill you sooner than you may like to die and in a way that is horrific.
