Anyone found a programming cord for these that isn't $40+ and works with a Mac?

I don't know about Mac compatibility, but I picked up a programming cable on eBay for about 5 bucks.

Have one... I don't think it even works right in my Windows VM if I remember right. Apparently the cheap ones use a cloned chip so they're not very reliable.

I actually tried using the cable in a VM first, and it didn't work at all. Had to pull out an old computer and put windows on it with the chirp software, but the USB programming cable actually worked when not using a VM. YMMV though. Hope you find what you need!

Can you listen to Air Traffic with this? I want to have something I can listen to manned aircraft while I'm flying my Drone.

Been interested in getting into these for backpacking and such. Mind sharing what a programming cable allows you to do (as in what do you program)? Thanks!

I have used this one with a 888 and seemed fine with CHIRP.

granted, that was almost 3 years ago and it might have been just luck cuz some of the recent review show that these may not work as good as they used to.

I use my radios for backpacking as well. I have weather channels in one group, local S&R in another, MURS channels in another for when I'm with partners, and then the Ranger channels in another. It's a massive main programming that much from the radios. Its much easier to copy and paste into the app and then upload to the phone.

Picked up a couple of these. The antennas that come with the radios are just ok. But with an aftermarket antenna the range, clarity, and gain improve greatly.
