Came in excited for a VR-ready laptop, saw a rebate - now I'm sad again. Will no one save us from the MIR? Additionally, the rebates go through aftcorp, and apparently you're supposed to use Internet Explorer to fill them in there? (And run Flash?)

Overall, the rebate site (aftcorp) looks pretty shaky and I don't see much in terms of talk about the site via a Google search, which concerns me. Does anyone have any positive experience with them?

Title error, 7700HQ instead of 7700k. Still a solid deal though, thanks for sharing!

Had the 15 incher,. Returned it, thermal performance was bad. CPU constantly hit 95+°C temps with Witcher 3 ultra playthrough( no gsync). Avg framerate we're good but thermal throttling caused many frame dips, not smooth gameplay at all

damn that's not good. wonder what the problem was.

i have that 15" one from that amazon $850 deal on black friday minus the $50 price adjustment for the USB-C spec typo fiasco. it only has the 1060 but its thermal management is pretty rock solid. the dual fans do an excellent job keeping things cool, but then again i game with external monitors and the laptop sits on a stand with fans and holes etc

That could be it, lid blocks exhaust vents, so mine sucked pretty bad, I did not use laptop cooler, although made sure I never put it on surface that'd block air intake. But exeprience wasn't up to par. Now with Alienware 17 r4, Rock solid in thermals so far.

Moving from the 1060 to the 1070 also means having to dissipate 50+W of power, so 15 inchers with less internal volume really need on point cooling solutions..
