We've had the SmartThings hub for almost a year+ now. We just picked up an Echo during this past Prime Day. It actually works very well with SmartThings. They are kind of two different devices though. SmartThings is more of a control hub to control smart home devices directly. It can control devices that run on zwave and zigbee. It can work with other devices also, but in that case it acts more like an Echo. The Echo itself runs on wifi and has to connect to a median device for integration. For example you can control the Philips Hue light bulbs directly from SmartThings without the need for the Hue Hub, where as the Echo would need to integrate with the Hue Hub or SmartThings to control those devices.

Where SmartThings really shines is the amount of devices it can control such as motion sensors, leaks sensors, and more. The ability to setup automation or "routines" as they call them, turn on these lights at sunset for example. "SmartApps" that allow advanced configurations and control of other devices such as a Honeywell thermostat.

Integrated with Echo is the best of both worlds. One routine we have setup for during the night is to turn off all the lights, close our garage door if it is open, turn off certain outlets, and arm the door sensors we have. Then we just start it with "Alexa, turn on nighttime."

We got ours for $50 and that to me was well wroth.

Bummer. That went quick! Wonder if they will restock tomorrow because it's supposed to be 72 hours.

The email I got didn't say if it was instore. Might want to call ahead and see if they will still sell at the advertised email price.

Hahah, I remember they had some dedicated theatre/nintendo section in the BX. I swear it was called the POWERZONE.

If you already have an Echo there's a way to add Google Search functionality which is really all you'd be missing from Google Home I believe. You can Google the instructions, though don't ask Alexa because she won't know how to Google until you're done teaching her how to Google.

Yup, not seeing any of the prices posted by the OP, even after going all the way through checkout.
