Uber up. Go to Fisherman Wharf, rent a bicycle and go to Golden gate bridge. All doable in about 4-5 hours. Give a good 45 mins to go back to airport.

All that is doable. But getting up at the crack of dawn, flying a few hours, deplaning, luggage, ubering to the Wharf and going around then heading back to the airport, security, and getting on a plane to hawaii... maybe it's better to pony up and find a flight with little to no layover and spend those 8 hours and SFO uber fares on the beach eating tuna sashimi Smilie

Even at these prices I feel like that's a lot, but not sure how much Hawaii tickets cost, it's cheaper to fly to most places in Europe right now

Layover in SFO is 8 hours! (ORD-HNL). Not enough time to enjoy SF but too long to sit still?

That's what I really hate about the cheaper Hawaii flights, the layover is crazy long!

United for the lowest fares from SAN. Not worth flying with them IMO. Especially long domestic flights.

This. If you leave from SAN make sure you get economy plus if you're flying United. My girlfriend lives in Hawaii, so I make pretty regular trips out there. I'm 6'3 and I eat my knees for 4/5 hours without it.
