Good deal if you are looking for a Vista. Really tempted, but I've had my eye on the BJCS Lux. Decisions, decisions . . .

I promise I'm not trolling with this, but could someone explain why these strollers are good? Curious about the high price tag. Wondered if they do something specific or if it's just like a "boutique" type of thing.

I know you asked this a few weeks ago, but I still wanted to answer you. The high price of the Vista is due to a multitude of things:
  • It's a convertible stroller with many configurations (probably the most expensive type of stroller after a jogging stroller)
  • Has a flip-flop friendly brake (you press down both times to lock/unlock the wheels like a button instead of wrecking your toes to unlock it by pushing it up like a toggle switch)
  • Folds easily and stands up on it's own once folded
  • Comes with a bassinet for overnight sleeping (also attaches to the stroller), as well as tons of accessories that you will pay extra for with other brands
  • Has a basket that can be accessed easily and holds 30 lbs (put 30 lbs in a Graco basket and watch what happens)
  • Has a telescoping handle
  • Has a better warranty than most brands
  • Has "tune-up" events where they will fix/improve your stroller for free
  • Is incredibly attractive for a stroller (especially if you get the 2017 with the leather handlebars)
  • Is made by a company with impeccable customer service
  • Wheels can be locked straight for rougher roads
  • Has much higher quality fabrics that will hold up to long-term use and feel better for the baby
  • Can be broken down very quickly for flights as everything that "moves" (unlock levers, wheel removal buttons, handlebar, etc.) is color coded a certain way. Then it all goes into a special bag that is gate-checked, and if there is any damage on the way to the other end, UPPAbaby will replace the stroller for free
  • Is usually worth around 60%+ when you resell it (Graco frequently goes for <40%)

There are many other reasons that it is a good stroller, but this list would be very long if I kept going. However, there is one final reason and probably the biggest reason--the push. The Vista has much better tires, includes an all-wheel suspension, and in general simply glides over things other (cheaper) strollers will struggle with like gravel, uneven roads, cobblestones, etc. You can make pinpoints turns with ease, and it is pretty easy to manage even with two children in a tandem configuration. A lot of these points are true with *any* of the nicer strollers, but since this deal is about a Vista, that's what I'm focusing on here.

Many people are used to pushing a Graco or a Chicco and never actually push anything else like an UPPABaby, Baby Jogger, etc. They don't see a need for anything else because it fits their needs fine. Either that or they push both kinds, but they do it in a baby store with no weight in either stroller going over a smooth-as-glass floor, so they don't see a difference. I used to be that exact person and laughed at people who spent $$$ on strollers. However, it's like a luxury car--once you try a nice stroller, it's hard to go back. The difference is night and day.

Very well said. My wife is due in mid November and we are set on the 2017 Vista in Henry color. The deals albee has on 15/16 models are great.

UB will likely have 20 percent off their 2017 models if you can wait until BF. 😉

Is that going to be through UB directly?

Is this something they do annually? Thanks.

Yes, I believe that UB has offered 20% off on BF weekend directly through them for a few years now. Other retailers might match the price, but I don't remember. The reason is that UB will likely announce their new 2018 Vista at ABC next month. After those are announced, it's harder for UB to sell the remaining 2017s since those who can wait will wait for the release (usually early in the year). After the 2018s are out, then the 2017s will likely have the same discounts (~30%) that the 2015/2016 have now.

Of course, there is no guarantee that this pattern will happen again, but the odds are good that it will.

Interesting!

I figured since 2017 were brand new this year the 18 model would be the same as the 17. Are you pretty positive they'll be selling a new '18 model next year? Thanks

They might not have changes for the 2018 model, but the 20% off is still very likely. They had 20% off on the Vista on BF in 2015, and the 2016 that was going to replace it wasn't different at all from the 2015. It's a similar situation this year (or a good chance of it), so I think it's pretty safe to count on.

As a 2016 Vista owner, I will also add that they have excellent customer service. While traveling, our seat cracked while inside the travel bag, UB sent us a brand new seat the day after we emailed them with pics of the damage and some basic info confirming our travel.
