Agreed. If you've got a spare sub sitting around, it makes them even better.

Best part is how versatile they are due to all the connection options.

Was thinking about these for an office. Like the versatility that I can connect a turntable, but also use from a PC or phone. Saves the space of having a receiver and speakers.

Any reason not to buy these?

Only reason for concern is that they have a bit of noise from the tweeters even when nothing is playing. It's not an issue at all if you're sitting a few feet away, but as desktop speakers it can be noticeable in a quite room.

I do like the Cherry color though, if I didn't already have the vinyl ones I'd be really tempted by this. If someone buys these please post some pictures, I'd like to see what they look like in real life as all I can are the stock photos.

just for reference, this is the case with most powered speakers I've ever heard. it's basically non-existent once audio is playing.

Very true, but I've found the R-15PM louder than most (I've owned the Audioengine A5+, Audioengine HD3, Polk Hampden, and M-AUDIO AV40 for reference). If your playing music you won't notice it, only when they are on and not playing anything. I wouldn't let it stop you from buying them, of all the powered speakers I've tried so far I think the R-15PM are my favorite, but it's one of the few faults I've found with them worth mentioning.

klipsch r-15pm vs jbl lsr305
I haven't heard the JBL yet, but from everything I've read about them while researching speakers I'd say they have better bass and more detail than the R-15PM. The R-15PM on the hand has a lot more consumer friendly features like bluetooth and a remote. My advice would be audiophiles and producers on a budget should get the LSR305. Anyone looking for a speaker with lots of features and plays loud should get the R-15PM.

Those are good for the price, it has turntable out and sub out so you can use coax cable and connect to your PB-13U

I've only demoed the ProMedias in Best Buy before--which is hardly the ideal listening experience. While they blew away just about everything else the PC section at Best Buy, It's to compare them to the R-15PM (especially have never heard the two side by side). With that said, the ProMedia's sub is going to produce a lot more bass than the R-15PM alone do. Some would consider that a good thing, others not so much, it's just a matter of taste. Beyond that, the R-15PM sounded fuller across the rest of the spectrum from what I remember. That could just be the difference between listening in a bedroom though vs. listening in a a large consumer electronics store. Moving on to features, the R-15PM really wins big here--honestly there aren't many speakers that can compete with the combination of USB DAC, Bluetooth, optical input, phono preamp, and remote that the R-15PM offers.

I know that probably doesn't help a whole lot, but my advice would be if you're using the ProMedia's at a PC just and you like them just stick with them. If you're using them in a larger room or you think you'll use the bluetooth and other features the R-15PM offer then consider upgrading.
