Because everyone needs a LED hard mouse pad. cheapest I've seen.

Amazon has the Razer Firefly Chroma hard gaming mousepad for $37.99 from retail $59.99. Use coupon "GAMESCOM20" for an extra 20% off for pretax total of $30.39

I'm assuming it's cheaper than intended because Amazon is price matching Best Buy's sale price. So it's almost like double dipping!

Seriously cool mouse pad. A lot of people make fun of RGB but if you have other RGB stuff, it matches perfectly. The pad is larger than most soft mats I've seen and the surface is really easy and smooth to move a mouse on. The usb cord is covered in a braided housing and is pretty long. Would recommend, brings a RGB peripheral set up together really well.

I've always used cloth mats. Not sure if I'd be happy with hard, and the cloth version is $49. What are the benefits of hard for someone who is not a real serious gamer?

Hard mouse pads are great for FPS shooters. I can't play cloth with FPS shooters. Cloth is great for work or games where fast turning of the mouse is not as critical.

So my razer mouse shouldn't have issues with this one?

It'd be funny if it did.

Sadly, that's what I'm afraid of.

no... in fact in the razer software you can tell the mouse that you're using the firefly pad and it will calibrate itself to it.

Im still using a cheap rubber mousepad. Dont see a big jump when using a fancy mousepad. I can still point and click. I game on it just fine. Ill try if it hits $10
