Isn't it a bit heavy for the backpacking tent?

Weight specs from Kelty:

Minimum weight: 3 lb 14 oz / 1.76 kg
Packaged weight: 4 lb 9 oz / 2.07 kg

That's not too heavy for me. For something lighter, I think you'd have to pay more, or downsize to a bivy or tarp tent.

Good deal for this tent. It's rarely below 100.

It's a little heavy for ultralight, but not "backpacking". And frogsnacks is right anything lighter will set you back 300+

Purchased this the last time around, and just finished four nights of backpacking. Decent tent, lightweight, vestibule has enough room for two packs. The stakes are very light and will bend if you try to force them into hard ground. They're still functional after being bent.

The tent survived a heavy rainstorm and about five minutes of 1/4" hail with no damage.

I haven't used the higher-end tents, but this is decent for the occasional backpacker. I'd recommend a footprint, if only to prevent dragging dirt from the vestibule into the tent.

I often go camping with my friend, I have ever bought 3 tents. I found this one is single layer tent, my first tent is single layer, but I have throw it away cause you can not stay in tent if the weather is raining.
The Salida should be fine in the rain if you have the fly on and staked out on all four sides. I made the mistake of not using a stake+guyline on one side, and water leaked in where the fly was touching the tent. Embarrassment

Using guylines also helps with ventilation.

If the ground under the tent is wet, a groundsheet (footprint) will prevent water from soaking through the floor. I'm using a piece of window insulation film that was $2 at Walmart.

A little heavy but also solid and sturdy and lock into place. At the same time the price is not lovely.
