Sony NW-A35 16GB Walkman - Digital Music Player with Hi-Res Audio, Charcoal Black (2017 model) $148

Amazon has the 16GB Sony Walkman, 2017 model # NWA-35 for $148. Free 2-day shipping with Prime.

This is kind of a niche product these days, since everyone uses their phone to play music, but it's a higher quality digital audio player then most cell phones, and this seems to be the lowest price for this 2017 model.

I actually prefer to use a dedicated music player when I'm out and about.

This look very interesting. The only disappointing thing I can point out is that it uses a proprietary cable.

Hey, this doesn't have to stay 16gb. It has a microsd slot.

Why pay more for the 64GB if you can insert up to 256GB microSD card (user reviews)?

Also, based on the comparison table this model only supports MP3 and not ATRAC /DSD(DSF,DSDIFF), LPCM(WAV), AAC/FLAC, Apple Lossless/AIFF or is this list incorrect?

I agree with this. I use a pioneer music player. I looked at Sonys offerings when I was deciding on a player. The battery life was awesome but I didn't like the proprietary cable either. The pioneer one uses micro USB. For the price, though, this Sony one is pretty decent. My pioneer was a bit more and I had to order from Japanese amazon at the time.

Hey hiptech, according to Sony, the list of formats is as follows:

AUDIO FORMATS

AAC (Non-DRM)
AIFF
ALAC
DSD
FLAC
HE-AAC
Linear PCM
MP3
WMA (Non-DRM)

Thanks... useless Amazon matrix tables they never seem to get it right!

One listing says only MP3 and another for the same model lists all the others...

The sad fact is the iPod Classic still has the best (IMO) interface for searching and playlist setups too bad Apple killed it off. It was also helpful that there were so many car connection cables/devices/modules available to provide better audio integration with car sound systems bypassing the need to use the 3.5mm aux jack.

It's the only Apple device I own but that said, iTunes completely sucked on Windows! What a slow, cumbersome POS software...

Seriously consider buying a Sansa Clip+ with Rockbox, or at least SOMETHING on which Rockbox can be installed. The headphone amplifier in the Clip+ is excellent and Rockbox addresses many (all?) of previous posters' stated concerns.

Itunes... The reason. I don't use an iPod, lol! I hate itunes with a passion... When I do use my iPod, I use this software called copytrans manager. There is a free and paid version.
