LOL, this is just a normal output car audio, not "VERY powerful stereo".
OP must be a newbie for car audio.

What exactly are the benefits of HD Radio? And I'm curious, does it actually increase reception/signal strength?

The reason I ask is because I have a long commute from the small town in Arizona where I live, down to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, which is about 75 miles each way, and there is an area of about 50-60 miles where I have little radio reception, and I had been thinking about trying to get a Sirius XM Satellite Radio receiver, but having to mount the antenna and pay for a subscription discouraged me from actually doing so. So, if you wouldn't mind reply when you get a chance and sharing why exactly you like HD Radio so much, I would definitely be interested in reading what you have to say about it.

Yes! It's amazing in my eyes for one major reason:

In major metropolitan areas it multiplies the amount of stations available to you. Their major station will broadcast on "HD1" and you can get up to HD2, HD3, and HD4 as well.
I'm pretty sure the clarity and quality is enhanced as well, but I'm not even too concerned about that.

When I first moved to the Bay Area, their major radio networks offered 2-3 substations that played a different variety of music. Some were even commercial-free! (i have no idea how they did that)

It's very likely that larger areas like Phoenix or Scottsdale will also have this benefit. I love it !

This is actually 40 watts rms per channel. It has a built in amp. This definitely perks up your speakers on a budget. I own three of them! Cheers.

I also used my flimsy stock speaker wire. I am using this stereo to push JBL 6.5 and Kicker 6x9 speakers. Applying the "Rearbass Enhancer" really makes 6x9's sound like decent subs.

I just wish they would refresh this model with Bluetooth better than 3.0.
