Best price I've seen for this. I gave up and just got the Linksys Velop and I'm turning a Raspberry Pi 3 into a Plex Media Server because this router has stayed so expensive and doesn't offer the range.

Why? You can get a mesh system for the price of one with the maximum throughout you can buy?

This is a slightly slower model (AD7000) compared to model on Amazon & Best Buy - NETGEAR AD7200

Costco: 802.11ac Quad Stream Wave2 WiFi plus 802.11ad WiFi—Up to 4600+1733+600 Mbps wireless speed

BestBuy: 802.11ac Quad Stream Wave2 WiFi plus 802.11ad WiFi—Up to 4600+1733+800 Mbps wireless speed.
BestBuy has a Recycle offer, if you take any old router they give you a Coupon for 15% off any router in stock in store. so I got it for additional $10 than Costco price.

Best Buy won't price match this because they don't carry AD7000 models only AD7200 at least in my area Frown

My past experience buying routers from costco is that netgear purposely changes model number of essentially the same router and does not provide as much support for it. This is also to prevent price matching. R9000 will get updates more readily while the r8900 is always one or two steps behind.

If you're willing to spend $330, or even $4x0 for the R9000 at amazon for this router, I can assume you know what you're looking at. Also, don't buy it for the WiFI alone - it is just another AC2600, or ven less than that, but it is a flagship router with fancy but useless 802.11ad Big Grin

https://www.costco.com/NETGEAR-Ni...69511.html

This router appears to be a feature-limited R9000 exclusively for Costco like the Netgear AC1450 was. The only obvious change from the R9000 to this R8900 is the lack of non-standard 256-QAM support for 2.4GHz 802.11n which reduces the maximum theoretical speed from 800Mbps to 600 Mbps.

The support issue isn't as relevant anymore. The more recent costco-specific models now seem to have the same Board ID as the retail model and they use the exact same firmware binaries. This was the case with the R6900P, R7900, R7900P, and R8300 but the R8900 is based on a totally different architecture so I haven't read any reports yet to know if the firmware is actually interchangeable between the R8900 and R9000.

The current firmware available for the R9000 and the R8900 is V1.0.2.40 so, for now at least, the R8900 is not behind.
