Hi Cookie09,

Think of Lorex as a brand, just like any other brand they have cheaper less good products and better nicer products. Some of their products I would stay away from and recommend you do also ( hint in general the cheaper stuff ) Also, I have yet to find a larger security camera vendor who has a stellar customer service reputation.

The ID spec list I included was based on different products I am interested in learning more about and attempting to find ways to compare them with data which we rarely see published. I really dislike some of the marketing from all the vendors who purposefully distort how far we can see with the camera so that we end up purchasing products which fail our functional needs.

One of the Lorex systems I saw at Costco has 4K cameras and is a Dahua OEM ( Dahua and Hikvision are top OEMs in the security camera market and produce some good quality products )

Thus the data you see for Lorex are based on Lorex systems I compared the 4K cameras with. If you would like to see more about that system:
https://slickdeals.net/f/10409612-lorex-dahua-oem-6x-4k-security-camera-system-w-8-port-poe-ip-nvr-2tb-hdd-kit-at-costco-b-m-ymmv-for-799-99

I believe these LaView cameras to be Hikvision OEM cameras - who also has a good reputation, and $305 for a IP POE system beats the pants off of the numerous wireless/wire free options many of us have purchased or are considering purchasing.

As each of us have different needs and different buildings the "BEST" solution typically requires custom picking parts for your own setup. Sometimes you need a PTZ camera in one spot, sometimes a camera with a great zoom, sometimes you need a nice vandal proof camera, indoors, outdoors,.... the options can get intimidating.

LaView is a smaller company, and if you keep an eye on sales from Newegg you can find some really nice deals. From what I have seen they do try to carry a good range of good to nicer cameras ( again I believe they use Hikvision as their OEM )

Already have a 16 channel LaView. Love it. Can't beat this deal. Couldn't pass this deal up. Bought it for spare cameras and NVR just in case. Couldn't purchase cameras alone for this cheap.

How about your thoughts vs the Reolink RLK8-410B4 system at $479? That one includes 2TB HDD and I would expect it to be a surveillance type of drive. So maybe $75 value for that? No HDD with the OP's deal here. Repped regardless!

Keep an eye out for LaView from Newegg come around black friday time, iirc a LOT of great deals.

Suggest doing a bit of research on the particular cameras offered by LaView ahead of that time period and deciding the minimum quality of a camera you'd like to get.

I got a 2TB WD purple HDD onsale from Fry's for $59 awhile back, and a 4TB WB purple for iirc $119.

Folks on the ipcamtalk forum do not like Reolink a lot, and prefer Hikvision OEM or Dahua OEM products. That said, Reolink is attempting to do better customer service than others in this space.

Personally I think this or the Lorex deal I mentioned are better deals.

Indeed, it shocked me when I first noticed it in the store - thought I was looking at first at the wrong price tag. Came back when they had the display up and took pictures to prove I wasn't seeing things ;-)

Costco shows no sign of discontinuing carrying the Lorex Brand. The particular 4K package however seems to go quickly and is not an item they keep fully stocked, similar to most of their non-consumable merchandise. Thus, with Costco's great return policy, if you see it and are interested in it, pick it up and bench test it. As long as all parts are included in decent condition you should be able to return it.
