I'm not a student but still feels sucky that I just paid full price for this laugh out loud

I haven't used it yet as I'm trying to figure it if I can take off from my yard... there's a tiny airport about 2 miles from me.

You need to get licensed, and the drone registered. You would then call the airport control tower before taking off to inform them of your flight.

Ugh... if that's the case I may just return it. Even a small private airport?

FAA doesn't require drone registration anymore. They even refunding money to those who have registered before!

Wait wait didn't they say you don't have register drones because they no longer count as aircraft?

I just paid full price 2 weeks ago too but that's ok. Having a blast with it.
Cubs fan here too from chicagoland. What airport are you near, maybe I can help.

If you open the DJI 4Go app. Upper right button > no fly zone > select your area. If its red, you'll have issues, if its yellow you can by pass everything, just be smart about flying.

As of 2 months ago or so, you don't have to register any thing under 55lbs. So no more registration.

Only thing you legally need to do is get a FAA Part 107 UAV license if you plan to do any thing commercial, i.e. Make money. If someone asks you to get aerial shots of their house and pay you, legally you need the license which isn't hard to get. 1 test and $150.

Section 336 from FAA:

(4) the aircraft is operated in a manner that does not interfere with and gives way to any manned aircraft; and (5) when flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport) with prior notice of the operation (model aircraft operators flying from a permanent location within 5 miles of an airport should establish a mutually-agreed upon operating procedure with the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the

Actually for over 10 years the law has existed not requiring registration, a large group of remote control hobbyists rebelled against the federal government, instructed their 10,000 Plus members to NOT register, in defiance of the feds and and their over reach of power. A federal judge ruled in their favor that the Federal Aviation Administration has no right to make anybody register their Hobby Craft. moral of the story is as Abraham Lincoln once said we the people are the masters of Congress and the courts not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the man who pervert the Constitution in other words don't be afraid of the fed's so much we the people and the states have individual rights and should stand for them always.

Check the air space. They're like upside down wedding cakes. So at lower altitudes, you're technically ok.
