Got this for the same price of $20 last time it went on sale here on SD. It works ok for me so far. I like the bright red color but it's personal preference.

A few things to note:
1. The product pictures on the site are very misleading in the way that this box is supposed to sit horizontally, not vertically as in the pictures, when plugged in and is in use. So it would look like a long red brick sitting horizontally on your counter/desk/closet. The window would face the side, not the top.
2. It makes very audible noise when it winds especially in a quite room. It has both the high pitch sound of shiny plastic rubbing shiny plastic and the rumbling sound of stone grinding stone. You may get seriously annoyed to have this in your bedroom.
3. The winder does not wind all the time 24/7. It has 3 modes of winding where it would wind for 2 minutes, then stops for X, Y, or Z minutes. I can't recall the exact numbers for X, Y, or Z, but they range from 5 minutes to 15 if my memory serves me well. The modes are controlled by the switch in the back. Many people think their winder is broken when it stops winding shortly after plugging it in, but this is by design.

I bought two of these last time this deal came up - one for my wife's Rolex and one for my Porsche Design. They seem to work pretty well although my Porsche Design stopped running when I left it in the winder for about three weeks. I haven't noticed any of the noise mentioned above. Both of mine are basically silent. They do however have an annoying blinking light that is pretty bright in a dark room. We had to move them out of our bedroom because we didn't like seeing a strobe light every time we opened our eyes. If you want a winder and don't want to spend much money, this is a pretty good deal.

Buying expensive watch you don't want to wear. Then buying watch winder to keep it going. Great deal!

If you had a Rolex, or other fine watch, perhaps you'd understand the desire an item like this would satisfy. laugh out loud

Otherwise, not so much... Wink

I considered buying something like this, but then I really like Omega wooden box that turns into a display case. Putting expensive watch in such a cheap winder kind of negates the beauty of the watch.
My watch stops after 2 days of not wearing it. I just rewind it a few times before wearing it. Not a big deal.
Unless you have multiple mechanical watches (then you should be able to afford nice looking $100+ watch winder, multi-millionaire), I don't think you need a winder.

How does it work? Shaking, moving the whole watch? Why would you need an expensive watch? Wouldn't it work with cheap autos?
