Type : LED Resolution : "4k" Refresh Rate : 60 Hz
The LG UJ7700 is a good, versatile "4k" UHD TV. It has good viewing angles, and its performance will please both gamers and sports watchers. It isn't as good for movies in a dark room or TV shows though, since it doesn't get that bright in SDR and its contrast and uniformity could be a lot better. Its excellent smart features make it quite versatile. It uses an alternate pixel structure (RGBW) which results in less accurate display of fine details.

Any TV with 2.8k RGBW pixel structure should be avoided. Lowest possible quality picture you can buy.

Get a TCL P series instead.

With black Friday around the corner, I'm holding off new TV purchase. Hopefully will be some better deals.

I had been seriously purchasing this model since it was $927 on Best Buy (now back up to $999). So when I found Buy Dig had this on sale yesterday on Ebay for $750, I bought it. Even got notice from buy dig that it shipped this morning.

I agree, someone would find something to bitch about the latest Roll Royce if they had the chance.

TCL is definitely great value for the right application. Viewing angles suck on the TCLs so the 7700 series LG was a better option for me but if you aren't watching from too far off to the side definitely give the TCL a look. Built in Roku on TCL is really nice but LG also has a nice remote and interface.

I know most of you don't have time machines so you won't be able to replicate the exact deal I got a few weeks ago but I'm putting it out there as there's a decent chance you might be able to get something like this going forward. I got the 60UJ7700 for $1097 from Dell with a $300 Dell egift card and 10% cash back from a certain site (currently 8%). I used credit card price match to FRYs at $599 and got $498 back from my credit card company.

Dell has the $300 egift card deal on the $1297 65UJ700 right now but others will have to comment on the likelihood of getting a price match to ebay daily deals.

Even if it is a good value, it will always be a low quality display.

You can get a PT Cruise for 2k and it would be a great value, but you still have a POS PT Cruiser.

Wow, this place is getting pretty annoying. I just detailed how i was able to get the 60 inch version of this TV for $598 with cash back that more than covers sales tax and a $300 Dell gift card and I get a lame PT Cruiser analogy.

Using your analogy, if someone has 2k to spend on a car and the best he can do is get a PT Cruiser what is he supposed to do, overextend himself to impress you?

I'm not comparing this LG to their OLED or Sony/Samsung higher end models but you're not going to do better than what I paid. As I explained TCL makes perfectly fine high value units that I use in kids' rooms but the viewing angle issue made them useless for the application where I'm using the LG.

That is the issue. No one is talking about comparing this TV to flagship OLEDs or QLEDs. I am talking about comparing this TV to bargain basement TCL S lines, Vizio E series, LeEco TVs... and whatever other basic bottom end TV there is. The LG UJ7700 has a worse quality picture than all of them. The one and only TV you could probably find worse than the UJ7700 is the UJ6300.

The quality of the UJ7700 is so bad that even at an angle with deteriorated picture, the TLC P would still look better.

No one is saying overextend and spend a ton more money or suggesting more expensive TVs. Saying spend around the same money and get far better TV. If you have 2k to spend on a car, just saying avoid the PT cruiser and get a decent Camry instead.
