Swear buydig ran this same set for $99 in March 2016 through eBay. Pic looks the same and set looks like the one I received. However the listing text says "Samsonite 4 Piece Lightweight Luggage Set, 20" & 28" Spinners, Duffel & Boarding" so maybe there is something to the "Premium" part that they feel good about charging more.

Still, if it is the same set, the two roller softsides are excellent. Look sharp, roll well. Used the carry-on size almost weekly for 6 months and it held up. Have used the larger one on a couple trips and no issues to report. The duffel size I feel like is an odd size; not big enough for multiple days but too big for a single day. Maybe I'm just bad at packing! Haven't used the boarding bag so can't comment on it. All pieces look nice and seem well constructed though.

Edit: adding slickdeals link to sale I was referencing.

Seems like a decent deal since everyone else has it for regular price at $279 but luggage goes on sale a lot. In reviewing CCC, the set has regularly gone for $199 so I wouldn't call it "Slick" just a good deal.

If you need luggage soon, go ahead and jump on this. If you can wait, you can get it cheaper.

In the market for some new luggage. Was thinking to try out a "hardshell" ... never had them before. Besides for looking cool what are the pros/cons of the hardshell?

For me- I got my first set of hardshells this year and although they are cool and can fit a lot inside while being protective, I really miss the pockets and storage outside of the luggage that these have.

I like how the hardshell slide easily into/out of spaces like overhead bins on the plane. But like the other poster said I do miss the outer pockets a bit. However my duffel bag has them so I've adapted.

Is this considered a 'slick' deal or has anyone found this set and brand cheaper?

Planning a long trip and Samsonite is always a good brand. I like that it's hardshell.

The bags in the OP are not hardshell.
