Best Buy has the Z906 for $199.99 as part of their deal of the day listings. It's an older system but I've always been a fan of Logitech's THX certified line. Great for movies and games in smaller office like space. The cheapest price out there currently seems to be around a $290 range for brand new and even refurbs aren't going under $230. Seems like a good deal if this is what you are looking for.

Edit: also something to note, I think clarity and detail have always been lesser prioritized when compared to power on these. I was looking at a lot of the HKTS systems posted and after seeing reviews it seems like the opposite niche to this. This is for your bass heavy room shaking movies while delicate instruments and vocals of music are better with harmons. Though phase plug drivers on there are great with mids.

Also lowest price a month ago was 206 for prime members only just for record.

At first I thought it was a refurb especially since the listing has no ratings. But it doesn't say it so I'm in for one.

Yup. Logitech never made a better set than the z-5500 5.1 speakers, THX certified or otherwise. I have had mine probably 10 years now, I went into a PANIC when the sub was not working a year ago, and I just couldn't figure out how to get it working again. I unplugged it completely, and THANKFULLY it was fine. That being said, if you don't have z-5500's, this is probably the best speaker set you will find for the price right now.

I used to have the first 5.1 set Logitech released. They were awesome back in the day.

Any good more modern options for 5.1 office speakers? Wireless maybe?

How is the quality compared to z5500? I know the latter is no longer manufactured but the quality was amazing.

Does this require receiver or can be hooked up straight to PC or TV.

I've been wanting a better speaker setup, but the price and complexity of a receiver is daunting to me - sad I know. Are there disadvantages to the lack of a big receiver? How do I go about having audio from a gaming console, pc, etc. all run through this?

Can this be directly hooked up to a TV without a receiver?
