Not the same as P-series as you stated in the title.

This is the slim model, I don't think it has a full array backlight. All the other specs are good for the price but not as good as the p series.

Yes - I saw this "pretty" TV a couple weeks ago at Costco, and was initially excited. But it appears as though the C Series is not a Costco rebrand of the P series. You can compare them all on the TCL site.
I'd rather have the uglier but better TV in the P Wink
"TCL is indicating that these TVs will not perform quite as well on brightness and black level as the P-Series models due to a lack of full-array LED backlighting (edge-lit instead) but at the same time, the C-series models will offer the same HDR support features and Roku Smart TV functionality as the P-Series. They will furthermore be thinner, more stylish 4K TVs overall with a sleeker form factor"

Difference is no local dimming, different remote, and this one looks classy. Not as good image quality as the P-series but a good slim TV if that's what you're after. I'll keep waiting on a deal for the 605/607.

I just picked up the 55" C series from Costco last night and set it up. I was only using it in our bedroom so I didn't care about getting the P series. In fact, the speaker on the C series is FAR superior to the P series that the C series made more sense. Now I don't have to buy a soundbar for the bedroom. At $550, I found it hard NOT to buy the C series. Would the P series have worked? Sure. But this isn't replacing my Panny plasma in the family room anyway which is the tv we will still watch predominantly. I get my crazy black levels and contrast that way. Streaming some 4K content and HDR content from YouTube last night was pretty darn impressive on the C series especially for our secondary usage of it. So definitely don't think the C series is inferior to the P series. It is not. The C series looks better, still has good image quality supporting HDR, and has better audio than the P series. Can't go wrong for $550!

Now when my Panasonic plasma goes some day, it will be an LG OLED that replaces it. That will be the only way to get my black levels and contrast that I need on the tv I predominantly watch.
