Headphone with accessories for $4000, you must a millionaire or you just like to throw money away.
Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean it's a waste of money. It's not for you - so move on.

Depends on your hobby. Some enjoy 2 channel and don't have the budget for a room and the gear that follows (I've seen and heard $100,000 setups). $4,000 is a steal if it really compares to Utopia bookshelf/towers

In fairness you could be a musician attuned to every minute detail in a piece of music.

Granted you could also be a precious clueless acquisitive douchebag oblivious to the poverty of others--there are plenty of those around, too, and there's no law against it.

Its nice to see Adorama running these sales on high end headphones. After seeing Audeze's on sale, now the Focal's - I cant wait for Adorama to bring in other brands headphones like Sennheiser HD800s, Stax, Hifiman HE1000v2 to name a few

Ofcourse props to @iconian for posting them for us Smilie

It really doesn't matter which category you fall in. You're free to spend your money how you want it. For the extreme audiophile, the cost can be justified. It's really that simple.

No disagreement -- there's no law against either category, thankfully. People are free to pursue passions as well as be empty-souled douches.

Has anyone had a listen to either one of these headphones? I wasn't able to make the last Can-Jam and really wanted to have a listen.

I'm coming from HE-400i's which is a great headphone, but understand this is another league.

I'm highly considering buying this but would someone want the AK 100? Wanna upgrade from my Hifi Man He-560, though they are still wonderful

You know that people without money are equally likely to be douches, right? A single choice in life, like making a purchase of an item, doesn't fully determine that

Just because he doesn't find value in it, doesn't mean he can't afford it. I'm sure there are loads of people out there rocking high end SUVs that could afford a sports car....but they think such cars would be a complete waste of their resources.....as they don't see the value in them that others do....

That being said, any headphones that cost more than like 50$ would be a waste of money to me personally, as I'm not an audiophile...but I can understand that there are many positions, passions, and careers that could make something like this wanted, or maybe even necessary.
