because it still has no competitor....

I borrowed it from my friend for a couple of weeks for a trip to Europe.

It was scary how far the monster zoom lens can see. I shot a video
from my hotel window and caught a woman giving a job to a man on
the beach(right by the water). It was almost half a mile away from the
hotel but I could still clearly see the topless woman and the facial
expression on the lucky man.

Hard to believe this camera is over 2 years old and it still goes for $500.

It's a little lower here but I've never heard of PixPhoto.

This camera used to be $599 MSRP when it first came out but it's $699 at B&H and Amazon. Not sure why the price had went up.

I've had this camera for about a year. The superzoom is pretty cool and can catch some crazy shots. I have not used it nearly as much as I had hoped since I usually use a Canon 70D SLR and I struggle with this since it doesn't really operate like an SLR.

I'm sure it's just that I need to put the time and effort into figuring out how to effectively shoot with this beast; but I still default to the SLR for almost everything and only break this out when there is a real need for the long reach.

For the price, however; seems like a good deal if you are looking for a crazy long zoom; and the picture quality is really good as well.

Wow... the zoom on this thing is nuts!

Looked at the reviews, I'm super impressed by what you can buy for $500!

I assume you had to use some type of filter to protect the camera/lens during the eclipse? can you use the same filter to view the sun anytime?

tHe camera is intriguing. What would the equivalent SLR with lens cost? like a T3i minimum. any benefit to getting the Coolpix over something like that? I do love me some high zoom! But if I'm going to spend $500 on a camera I want it to also be able to have the quality of an SLR/mirrorless camera.
