say you trade in your iphone 7 for this. they give 480 for it, which is on itself a meh deal. then, you are giving them a 24-month interest free loan. then, if for any reason, you pay it off, say, after 12 months, then they stop paying you, so instead of 480, you only get 240.
on top of this, you paid full retail price for a very expensive phone.
you cannot upgrade in the next 24 months (you can put another phone in that line, but you cannot pay off the installment plan)
so you are entering a contract where all the conditions are in their favor.
if they gave you 300 for a $5 phone, that may make more sense, but when the $480 is for a phone that may be worth that, the it's not good

hmmm too early to tell, but worth considering..but if the credit is over 24 months...then DOA
edit:

DOA it is
"Less up to $480 trade-in/promo credit applied over 24 months; promo credit ends when balance is paid or line terminated; 0%"

Can we tell if this is credit or up front?

edit: it looks like it's credit over 24 months. doesn't look like a hot deal.

Sorry guys - figured $480 was a good deal. Especially if you got in on that $5/month G6.

Would have been a good deal had it been pre SD pissing off Verizon.

Yeah I guess if you don't like Verizon but I don't see the issue if you still have them you're gonna keep them.

Meh- most slickdealers won't notice the lower quality streams anyways. They're all over low quality TVs on here.

Generally a deal would be to have the 50% taken off up front, therefore you wouldn't be obligated to be with the service for 2 years. Because it's a credit, you have to pay for the service for 24 months to receive the bill credits.

Agreed. It's a good deal for a lot of instances, but not a slick deal.

To make it really clear, this is an alternative to a 2 year contract. If something were to occur, be it a month it, a year in, etc, you will be obligated to pay the remaining months of the phone at a non-discounted rate. How good of a deal does this sound like then? If it were up front discount, you are guaranteed the $480 price regardless of when, how or why you cancel prior to the 2 years.

sooner or later(hopefully sooner), Best Buy will have their own deal,
which doesn't involve credits over 24 months! Smilie
