I don't know if these work or not, it's hard to tell and I recall reading they don't do much. But they do stink like a farm, so just tumble your clothes with a bag of manure, for the same effect.

I haven't used chemical fabric softener since switching to wool balls about 2 years ago. Static is only a problem with synthetic materials like fast-dry athletic shirts. Static isn't a problem with cotton or linens.

For less then $12... I'll give them a try. If they don't work for the laundry I'm sure the dogs would love to play with sheep balls.

not automatically. Static is caused by over-drying, so if you leave clothes in the dryer too long, these will do nothing. You could just as well take your clothes out a little early and air-dry them. If you want a simple low-maintenance solution, you will likely want to stick with dryer sheets. https://www.everydaycheapskate.co...yer-balls/

Try as I must, every now and then I see my Border Collie in the living room with one of these in his mouth.

I have, they don't smell. They go in the dryer with clean clothes. If you are putting clothes that stink like a farm in with them then you might be doing your wash wrong.
