Are these even worth the price when the Yi ones are almost 1/3rd of the price?

Lowes also has this. Pair with a $25 off $100 for the best deal available right now.

Also keep in mind these are discounted because the new Nest IQ camera is now available. However at $299, it's hard to justify the added features at that much more of an upfront cost IMO.

It's a better buy at bhphoto at $162 (vs amazon) if you live outside of NY and NJ because of tax. Free expedited shipping too.

Hi,

Curious if you know why they would put in a 4K sensor into the Nest IQ but restrict the video to 1080p?

Nest IQ - indoor camera
Camera: 1/2.5-inch, 8-megapixel (4K) color sensor with 12x digital zoom and enhance
Close-up tracking view
Video: Up to 1080p (1920 x 1080) at 30 frames/sec, H.264 encoding, HDR
Field of view: 130° diagonal
Night Vision: High-power infrared LEDs (940 nm) with IR cut filter

You can power nest cams via PoE also. I'd rather not drill holes in my house or run wires so the nest cams are a good fit.

The camera supposedly zooms in on the action. So the zoomed in video is 1080p. It's basically a motion tracking 1080p camera.

Thanks. I will have to check out the reviews. As I can get a really nice 4K POE camera for less than the Nest IQ I'm hoping they've added a lot more features to their camera.

a 4k camera is gonna be a HUGE difference. we went from 1080p to 4mp, and the difference is astounding. we eventually want to go to 4k when the cost comes down.

Nest is Ok, The biggest Drawback i feel, they require a Subscription for any recording, which is not useful, They shd give at-least few hrs of recording free or have memory to record locally. Arlo pro is much better.

Agreed.

FYI - the 4K cameras if purchased in a kit can be found for 6 cameras + NVR for $800+tax
