Just wanted to chime in with this info in case it helps somebody. This phone doesn't have a notification LED. Instead it has moto display where the screen lights up to alert you of texts or calls, BUT IT ONLY DOES IT ONCE! If you missed that then you have no idea that you have a missed text or call. You have to physically nudge it or rather pick it up for it to do that again. The notification LED on other phones constantly blink (also with different colors depending on the type of alert). So you can look at your phone from across the room and know that there is a text or call waiting for you. Some people always have their phones on them physically so its no biggie for them, but many people also want to keep it away within eye contact and want to just know if they got an alert (think running around with kids). Just my 2 cents.

Wife has this phone. She's not impressed. Touchscreen flakes out constantly and the problem seems to be software and not isolated to her. Check the reviews before purchasing.

Great deal on a solid phone.

Cheaper even than the Amazon Prime version (with ads on the lockscreen) which is currently $240 for this 64GB/4GB variant.

Great deal for the 64GB version. TU/repped! It would be nice to see them do a similar discount for the 32GB version as well. Yes I know, the 64GB with 4GB of RM is preferable, but for some light users they will not care or notice the difference.

Reviews I've read of the G5+ have been mostly very positive.

It's meant to have perhaps the best camera at the sub-300 price point too.

Given that my son has trashed his Nexus 5X (that he paid for himself), I've picked this up for his upcoming birthday.

Is the Masterpass a one-time use only code? I used it on a previous Newegg order and I'm wondering if I can use it again, even if I need to create a new Newegg account.

The improved G5S & G5S+ w/better cameras & case are arriving SOON, but will likely be full retail ($300+) for a while... DW & I both need phones. I'd really like to get a G5S+ w/dual cam for my DW but the $225 G5 Plus might good-enough for me... Decisions, decisions...

My wife and I were previously on Nexus 5x and the 2gb RAM caused the phone to constantly lag. When we both upgraded to 64 gb 4gb ram it was a huge improvement. Your son will be very happy. We've been very pleased with this phone for 4+ months

I didn't realize this was a problem because I use the clean master app, it updates me on any missed calls right away.

Ahh I read your post again and I misunderstood, that's a good point you made

This is a very good phone. Most complaints are from people who do not understand how to update the phone or use it correctly. I do not think there is a difference between the 4GB version and the 2GB version other than a larger base memory of 64GB vs. 32GB. If you use a micro SD card you can expand your memory up to 128GB. Who does that? nobody but 32-64GB micro SD cards are not very expensive. Totally unlocked and vanilla android with zero bloat in the OS. I have the 32GB version.

Currently my g5plus has a problem where the vibrate function will stop working, for the ringtone haptic feedback and all. Suspecting it's a hardware defect, but I'm still analyzing. Write a few reviews of other people with similar problems, but doesn't seem widespread. Also had touch screen issues, like other posted above. Mine is few and far between though. Might see it every 2 to 3 weeks. For me, the touch screen stops reacting. All I do is turn off and on the screen and it works fine again. A little annoyance, but really no big deal considering it's very infrequent. Of these two issues, I don't know which are hardware and which are software. Keep hoping an update will come and fix everything. LOL. All in all, I am very pleased with the phone. It candles everything I throw at it, is the perfect size, doesn't have the bloat of a phone through AT&T or Verizon, Etc. This is a good price, too, imo.

Awesome phone, killer price. I picked up the Amazon version on Prime Day but at $225, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. There are a few glitchy things: sometimes the auto brightness seems to not work properly (will remain too dim, but still visible enough to work), Google Now/Assistant can (especially on reboot) freeze up or lag a lot (though this seems to be Google's fault as people said it worked fine until a more recent app update), the missing notification light (not as big a deal as I thought it might be, but still should have been included), and a weak speaker are things I've noticed. None of these are deal breakers. The phone is fast and does what I need it to do. Assuming no long term issues, it's a hard to beat phone at this price and the unlocked bootloader version gives you the option to use third party ROMs (unlike my Amazon version), so that should give it long term usability for those who want updates beyond whatever Lenovo will provide (which is still unclear).
