Great headphones. Paid $250 a year ago with no regrets.

X2HR should hit the US soon, but it will likely be twice the price.

Should I keep my Sennheiser HD 6XX Headphones order from Massdrop(thanks nathan.bowse), get these or wait for the x2hr?
I don't have a amp/dac and would be using mostly for music and games.

I think you meant from Massdrop. If you decide you don't want to keep them, hit me up please.

You really need an amp for the HD6XX (I have the HD650 they are based on).

X2 would be good without the amp

Depends what you value soundwise.

I think the X2 is better for gaming. You can plug it directly into the controller and attach a mod mic. Works great in my experience.

For music, it would come down to personal preference and the genres you listen to most.

The X2HR is the same soundwise as the X2. The pads and headband are different though. I have no issues with the standard X2 pads, but some say they are itchy.

I have the X2's and the Senn 650's. The X2's are more detailed, better controlled in the bass, and they have the other-worldly "there are actual instruments in-between my ears" imaging, IMO, but the comfort level is not as good as the Sennheisers. I have a big head and big ears, and the Philips sit just a bit uncomfortably, although they're fine for a couple of hours. For reference, I am 6'3", and my head and ears are large for my height. If you are 6' or smaller, I would recommend the Philips in that comparison without hesitation. It's not a universal view, but you can find solid reviewers at Headwise and AVSForum saying that the X2's are competing more with the Senn 700's, not the 650's.

As an aside, if you would prefer closed-back 'phones (the X2's and 650's are open), I really like the Sennheiser 380 Pro, although they absolutely need a headphone amp. I think they literally have never been on sale, so you won't hear about them on SlickDeals, but they definitely belong in this conversation. On a 100-pt scale of sound quality, I would rate the X2 at 97, the 650 at 95, and the 380 Pro at 94, so it's somewhat splitting hairs -- but if you NEED closed-back, then the 380 Pros are the best choice I know of in the $150-300 category.

I have the X2, Sennheiser 598, 6XX, Beyerdynamic 880 (600 ohm), 770 pro and Bose QC35. My favorite is this and the 6XX. If traveling and I don't have an amp/dac, then I carry this and the Bose QC35( for airplane ).
