Don't be a snob.. the average age depends on the breed, usually the larger the dog the shorter the lifespan.. mix breeds live longer than purebreds.

I haven't seen any scientific studies that have shown that $5 a pound dog food actually makes a dog live longer opposed to $0.50 per pound dog food.

So I'll continue feeding my dog a cheap large breed puppy chow, vegetables and table scraps along with her visits to the vet, grain free is a gimmick.

Agreed- but FWIW, there is a grain free option. I went with that, it's about $1 per pound of food, still not bad. https://www.amazon.com/Nutro-Adul...Bfree&th=1

I sometimes mix these MAX blend deals with my dogs ULTRA and they don't seem to care. 2, 6, and 8 year old been on Nutro their entire lives. No medical issues besides regular oil changes.

Much better than your normal grocery store fair or really anything on the shelves like 15 years ago. Not the fanciest thing ever but most adults eat cookies cakes and pasta every day too.

I'm no expert - and I'm not trying to argue your opinion, but in general I usually buy the grain free options at Costco such as this: https://www.costco.com/Kirkland-S...43435.html

Would you say this stuff is up to par with the Costco brand? Thanks for your opinion Smilie I try to treat my dogs well.

I'm sure if you mixed in some ice cream and doughnuts they wouldn't care either. Do you consider 8 years some sort of milestone for a dog? Come back in another 10. laugh out loud
