I went to Amazon [amazon.com] to check out reviews and noticed this was available for $50 shipped direct from the manufacturer for a refurbished model. Any reason not to consider that option?

I purchased this on Cowboom for $25. I sure miss those Cowboom deals.

I think the whole antenna market is a scam. I tried every indoor antenna with mediocre results. Then I bought a $12 outdoor antenna from Walmart and I got almost every channel in my area.

That one does not have the stick antenna for VHF stations.

Thanks for catching that. Here [amazon.com] is the correct Amazon link. No refurbished option and better reviews.

If you are questioning what channels you will receive, I would suggest a cheap one from Ebay for $7 or so just to find out... Mine is stuck to the wall behind the TV, and I never think about it... I get ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW, 5 PBS channels, and other stuff I don't watch... Been 5 years now.

My Sister lives in a more rural area, and she gets the same channels, regardless of whether she uses one like mine or the $70 plus antennas.

This antenna is amazing. I live in the Detroit suburbs and originally had it mounted on top of my now unused direct tv dish, about 4ft off the ground on the side of my house. Got about 30 stations and was super happy. I was not getting fox due to the type of signal they broadcast here, so I had an electrician help wire it up to the attic now I get like 50+ stations crystal clear hd. Terrific price for it, too
