What is the main reason people choose to have these? Cleaner air I know but allergies while sleeping? Or other reasons?

For me I got this one for my allergies while sleeping in the bedroom. I also like the auto setting where it knows the air is bad so it turns itself up and then down when there air is cleaner.

But they're good for bigger rooms like living rooms as well. I live in Los Angeles for instance and I used to live not the far from the freeway. The air cleaner definitely helped there as I was getting all that nastiness from the exhaust from passing traffic. I probably lost 10 years of my life from living in that apartment lol.

I've had this model for almost a year now. Works great. The only downside is that speeds 1 to 3 are all about the same quiet noise level. Speed 4 is roaring to the point that you cant really carry on a conversation. It would be nice to have 4 equally spaced speeds.

1) Minimizes dust in the room which minimizes allergy attacks for myself
2) [Expensive] white noise machine
3) Most room air filters don't filter a lot of volume, this one does
4) Complete filtration (some cheaper models lack certain filters/ionization)
5) "Emergency" solution to aid in allergy attack that can be used with medication (Benadryl/Sudafed) or on its own
6) Way that it filters - its input and output vent locations allow for better placement [hidden] in a room
7) Air quality measuring - not sure if this is a gimmick or not, but if I am still having allergy issues and it says the air is still bad I know to be a little more patient, but if the air is clean, I might want to try option two

etc.

How well does this work for two-story living rooms? In the morning there's a ton of dust high up, I noticed in my new house, and I'm not sure what would be effective for that. I have the Honeywell circular big purifier, but the air exhaust shoots upward. Doesn't seem effective... wondering if this would be any better.

I also got this because of allergies. This is a great deal if you need it. I'm usually not allergic to anything but my body developed reactions to something unknown over the last few months. This machine did the trick and was worth every penny. The funny thing is that I would not have known about it if it did not pop up on slickdeals.

I would get this if it had a re-usable filter.
