Which is a good thing...touchbar is a gimmick and definitely not worth spending extra for.

You can think what you want but a lot of people are just looking for the best deal at the time. If I'm in a market for a low end MBP for productivity, this is a good deal... it doesn't have to be the lowest price anything has ever been or the most current model to be worth it to people. The '17 model which is nearly identical goes for $1500. TU from me.

Not sure this is really a deal, if you take a look at it, it's last year's model's. There isn't any touch base from what I'm seeing.

You mean touch BAR? Touch bar is a gimmick to most people. Not worth the price premium. This is about as low power as the MacBook Pro line gets but it's def an ok deal and will be fine for 75% of MacBook users (students, home basic use, productivity).

That still doesn't neglect the fact that this isn't a good price or deal. We're not on here looking for an ok deal. We're here for slick deals. This isn't really all that slick if you take into account that its last year's model and it not being a touch bar just adds to the fact to it being not very slick.

Yes, I will think what I want (obvious in itself), a lot of people look for the best deal at the time. But most people also are looking at the price within past prices and this isn't earth shattering. For the '17 model its actually $1399, also Best buy has had it on sale for I believe what is around $1300-1400, combined with a student discount of $100-150. I think the only advantage to B&H is the lack of tax to be honest. So the tax really is just on owning a last year's model.

There are plenty of opportunities where the Macbook will continue to fall in price and has fallen in the past. So it receives a thumbs down from me.
1399 is the 128 version (probably why you're confused). Even with BB edu deal its 1300 for the 256 (and thats because their regular price is $75 off right now) for the '17. $150 AND tax savings ($250 total in my state) = better deal for a system with very very minimal changes from 16 to 17. Thats about 20% for most people = good deal.

This looks like a great deal for people who are happy with these specs, my gf is a child dev major and would not be playing any games on this, she purchased a 2017 13"mbp touchbar 256 gb for 1850 after tax in CA from an apple store 3 days ago. Should we return that along with her free headphones for this laptop at 1150?

700$ saving in exchange for a year diff, headphones and touch-bar and specs, what to do?!

Agreed... I just bought the 1900 deal from B&H for my finance (the 15.4). The idea is cute but its also annoying having to go into menus to change basic settings like sound volume and brightness. Its definitely cool to look at but overly cumbersome and not worth the price premium.
