While I was looking at the magic chef multi-cooker, the price went from 49.99 to 54.99. I missed out on the Amazon deal the other day and have been thinking about getting a multi-cooker, mostly for the pressure cooker and rice aspects. What are people's thoughts on this one? Should I just wait for a better one to come on sale again?

Do you want a smart one like the above that is self contained or would you like a stove top one that is simple. My presto 8 quart is about 30 years old. The gaskets need to be replaced but I use mine at least every two weeks for my dog's chicken bone meal. They are discounting at Walmart and in my neighborhool as low as $7 30 miles away. Want to try your luck with a PC Richard one:

Thanks for the link. I may end up with something like that, but I would really prefer the all in one type like the magic chef or the instant pot. I do have one walmart with the one you linked to at $15 near me, so I may grab it for the short term. Thanks!

You may want to look at the tayama 6 quart. It is about the same price on Amazon with good reviews [amazon.com]. It is being discounted on many sites but can be as high as $75. If you want a self contained unit the price is reasonable (not clearance unfortunately). Be sure and check the prices of the gaskets. Some the the companies gouge you for parts. That's why I like presto. Hope you find what you want.

I don't get it, did they mark up the Excalibur dehydrator for the special buy of the day?

Here it is for $170 ($25 cheaper):

The model you quoted is without the 26 hour timer. The $195 unit (3926TB model) has the timer.

I was confused at that for a bit too, then noticed the blue panel and one less knob.

Bought and canceled my order, since it was $174.99 earlier this month from Amazon. I can wait.

I can't imagine using it without the timer.

I've crisped up some jerky making it inedible before. For that negligible of a price difference it's definitely a no-brainer. Otherwise get an external outlet timer.

External timer is a good idea. I have always had to rotate my trays 90 degrees every 4 hours for some of my fruit. I didn't realise new these things are $280.
Why the thread that had excalibur timer model on amazon for $175 wasn't popular is beyond me.

I didn't see it, otherwise I would have probably jumped. Now I have an alert for it, so next time I'll hopefully get it.

My thought is they have a new model coming out. Amazon discounting it first, potentially to clear stock. Then HD slowly but surely following suit.

That is a possibility. Especially unloading them right before fruit season my fortify your hypothesis. My 30 year old Montgomery ward rebranded excalibur is basically the same in concept and workmanship to these. It may be a little heavier. I hope they don't make the thermostat electronic since mine has never went out. Good you got an alert. Maybe next time you will be the bargain finder.

Excellent thought but my rebranded 30 year old excalibur dehydrator works wonderfully. Damn thing just doesn't pick the fruit, clean it, cut it and place it on the rack.
