Best Buy Stores: Trade-In a Working Laptop, Get Minimum Gift Card $40, plus $160 coupon for Surface Pro or Surface Laptop.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp/...2308353221

"Trade in a qualifying working MacBook, Surface laptop or Windows laptop at a participating Best Buy store, and you'll receive a $160 coupon for a Surface Pro or Surface Laptop and a $40 Best Buy gift card."

If you have an old laptop lying around, this is a good way to pocket some BB gift card credit. Occasionally, BB has similar trade in deals, but there is no guarantee that they will be $75 or $50 again for trade ins. Based on the last $75 deal, BB cut the promotion short by a week.

To help others, post in the Wiki what you traded in (or attempted to) and the date and location.

Best Buy pretty much told us that any laptop that is two years old or older is going to be a no go. That was just our experience, obviously YMMV. Ours were a Dell Latitude 610 and an Acer Aspire One. We have Compaq C60 but we're not even going to bother.

My CS person after not knowing or pretending not to know about it and trying to say there was a ZERO trade in value, comes back and tells me the $40 Gift Card requires a purchase be made today on the Surface Pro.

lol who would give a working computer to best buy for $40? you could donate it and your write off would be way more

the $160 off Surface is only applicable if you wanted to buy one. but now that they have this promo, the sales on the Surface will be barely anything

Can't even buy a new video game with that trade-in price. I'll keep my fully-functional 8 years old laptop for now.

This would be a good deal if it was $160 off any laptop, but surface laptops are $900 or more, and seem to be way overpriced for specs.

True. No one would trade in a working lap for $40. But last time I was lucky the Blue shirt guy just took mine without even look or power up. Lol
PS: It run Celeron with Win ME and couldn't power up.
So YMMV , try your broken one you lose nothing but a little bit time. Smilie
