It's a stereo amp. Has bluetooth also so you can stream music from your phone.

Isn't it the preamp that uses the tubes not the amp itself?

Tubes produce a warmer, more analog like sound that is preferred by some people. It's great for oldies originally recorded in analog form.

Can be either or both. Used to be how all amps and preamps were made before solid state.

These MP tubules tended to have a high defect/failure rate.
Do the refurbed have the fix?

Pre-Amps and Amps can, have been, and are being made using tubes. As noted in the post above, prior to solid state gear(transistors etc.) all amps and preamps including those in the living room radio were made with tubes. Back in the day(think Christmas Story), it would not be uncommon for one to blow or die and one's Dad would have to stop by the store to get a replacement tube.

I have the 15w version and it is decent in terms of sound and loudness

More power would be nice, so if that's all this does differently it's a very good price

No, they don't produce warmer sound. They produce higher distortion, and that's about it. Transistors are no less analog than tubes.
