this is for hardcore athletes. i am an moderate athlete and with all the bells the only thing that is missing from this combo is wrist HRM.

i have been looking for something that i can use when working out (chest HRM) and when i am not working out (wrist HRM) . I love the polar brand but i find that garmin has been devoting their attention to accommodate my needs better.

$370 is just too much for a device that is focused mainly on running.

Check out the Polar M600. Picked 1 up last month and pretty happy so far with it. Think it can be paired with chest HRM and has wrist HRM too. Full Android Wear integration that has worked flawlessly for me. Appealed to me because I can use it to run + it tracks a bunch of other activities thru various profiles.

Do you have to wear a chest strap for the hear rate monitoring? Does it have a reminder?

The new Fitbit iconic or whatever is going to be released at the end of September for 299. I think I'll wait for that.

Polar v800 doesn't have a heart rate monitor inbuilt. You need to use the chest strap monitor.
If you are looking for timers and stuff, it is inbuilt in the watch. You can also connect the watch to smart phone (IOS/Android) to get the notifications in the watch. I use it for both running as well as lifting weights. If you are in to weights, chest strap monitor works much better (Tested my heart rate with Fitbit blaze, Scosche Rythm+ and Polar with chest strap).
