SGAmmo has Magtech / CBC 168gr .308 Win / 7.62x51mm Sierra MatchKing OTM ammo 1000 rounds for $479 [sgammo.com] + $26 S&H (for me).

$0.505 a round shipped would be a pretty solid deal for new, non-surplus, non-magnetic, brass M80 FMJ/Ball at current prices, but this is match grade ammo with Sierra MatchKing bullets at that price! Excluding the Magtech/CBC stuff, the next cheapest new brass ammo I could find with the same SMK bullets is Prvi Partizan @ ~$0.73 a round shipped [sgammo.com]. Most SMK .308 Win / 7.62x51mm is close to $1 a round.

TargetSportsUSA also has the same Magtech / CBC Ammo for $0.60 a round shipped [targetsportsusa.com].

Yes, I got my order in. There were 11 left after I ordered. I only ordered one. In retrospect I should have ordered like 5, but I'm light on cash after buying other stuff this month.

I generally order first, then post a thread here. Wave

It's still a pretty good deal at TargetSportsUSA. The next closest price for OTM SMK .308 I could find is ~$0.73 a round shipped. Obviously the SGAmmo deal was just all the better.

I signed up for a restock notification also. More to see if and how much than to buy more though.

So just FYI, this ammo (well probably the packaging) smells musty. I ordered a case from TargetsportsUSA a few days before SGAmmo had their sale, and I got another one from SGAmmo with their sale. Both smell musty when you open the outer cardboard box. There is no visible mold or mildew on any of the 50 round boxes, but the smell is definitely noticeable. It's all from the same lot in 2015. The ammo has a sealed primer and presumably a sealed bullet, so I doubt the exposure to moisture matters, but this is still the first musty smelling packaging I've gotten on any ammo of any caliber from any retailer.

TargetsportsUSA just slapped a FedEx label on the cardboard Magtech box despite my checking the box for an overwrap box in the checkout process. Their treatment of the box caused most of the thin 50 round boxes to have tears and punctures and seem fairly beat up. I got to spend some quality time with my clear packaging tape taping them up trying to keep them intact or from getting worse.

SGAmmo put the Magtech box inside another box so it fared better, but I still had to tape up a few tears on the inner 50 round boxes though they generally were in considerably better shape.

Thanks for the heads up. I've noticed SG is a bit more careful about their packaging as well. The mustiness could explain the low price. Still hoping SG will get it back in stock at that price...

Doesn't look like SG is getting this back. Frown But I found this [outdoorlimited.com] for $0.55 a round shipped per 1K rounds

That's still a really good price. I'd buy more if I had the disposable income right now.

It's supposed to arrive next Tuesday. I'll let you know if it is musty as well. With SG not looking to get it back in, this was the best deal I could find. Just within budget.

But yeah, I as well have invested heavily into 'precious metals' at the current prices as I doubt they will stay this low much longer.

Part of me agrees with you. Part of me thinks they'll continue to fall unless there's some event to create a run. If the prices keep dropping I'll just have to buy more to dilute my cost basis. Wave

I believe the low prices for ammo at this time is because the ammo manufacturers and sellers did the same as the firearms ones. Expecting Hillary to win and cause a subsequent panic buy. (same as both times O won) So they went into produce as much as we can and stock as much as we can mode. Only to find Trump winning and not causing the expected panic buy (and expected high prices). So manufactures are overstocked (Hence the ammo rebates) and the channel is over stuffed. Hence the discounts to get their stock down and liquidity up. I doubt this is going to last much longer as surplus is being reduced...
