A couple of inputs here:

1) You can (and should) still negotiate on the price. I did a similar deal in Colorado, and negotiated a further $4400 off this offer. (2017 with the QC package, which is worth having IMO)

2) There IS a significant redesign coming on the 2018 Leaf. Just educate yourself first.

3) depreciation is ugly. Though - in this case, it will lose less than most any other new car, given that $10k is knocked off the top.

4) You should drive one. The instant-torque of the electric motors is fun. It's not a tesla, but - it's also less than 20% of the cost of one...

That said -> yeah, it's ugly. But it's a great little commuter car, and at $7500 for a brand-new vehicle, I can't complain.

A quick inventory search and there are only a handful of these cars in NJ.

Most people drive less than 30 miles a day.

Hi Joeboy, curious how it is turning out to be $7500. Is there more discount to it ?

Probably if you can negotiate a little bit before those rebates come in but I don't know kinda a stretch.

I ran a search, and found none.

Funny thing, my 10 year old son is fascinated by Tesla and I occasionally agree to go into their mall stores. When we visited last, it was empty so I was chatting with the saleswoman. I came to the conclusion that an electric car would make for a perfect second car as we only have one car now, but Tesla is too expensive. However, this Leaf deal is perfect. Too bad there are no more available -- yes, I'm a PSE&G customer.

I'm just have a hard time getting over the looks of this car. For the life of me, I don't understand a car manufacturer who has been making cars for decades decides that this is the image they want to push for the brand name. I can't believe that everyone at Nissan signed off on this. Who were they targeting?

Nissan has some funky designs. Look no further than the mini CUV called the Juke. The Leaf is not as weird as a Juke. I'm willing to guess that the Leaf takes a lot of its design from the first generation Versa hatch.

Colorado has an additional $5,000 off. So it was something like $34,005 before any discounts. Then knocked it back to $30k with negotiations, took $10k off for xcel (our power company), $5k for Colorado and $7500 for fed -> made it $7500.

Dealers are jacking up the price 2k over MSRP. The sheet says 15k after all is said so if you can get that it's not bad. Dealerships are ordering more as plenty of people are buying them since this was announced so don't let that motivate. Also be aware if you have only paid 5k in federal taxes this year don't expect to get 7500 back FWIW. Otherwise car seemed really good at test driv and you can charge at any Nissan dealership with supercharger being installed in 2018 (0-80% charge in 20-30 minutes)
