Living Social [livingsocial.com] has the Phillips Hue 2nd Gen LightStrip Plus (Refurbished), without mounting tape, for $52.99, with free shipping. Use promo code 'SAVENOW' to save an additional $10.60, bring the total to $42.39 before tax. You can stack additional savings by using well-known cash back sites.

This light strip retails for $89.99 and is the much brighter 2nd generation light strip.
Quote :
Engadget: "With the second-generation hardware... It can now offer tunable white light between 2,000 and 6,500K, so you'll be able to use these as regular bulbs. Secondly, you can extend the strips up to 10 meters by tacking on up to eight single-meter extensions to the 2-meter base unit. In addition, Philips has boosted the output of the bulbs themselves to 1,600 lumens -- a far cry from the 120 lumens found in the original."
1-meter refurbished extension kits are also available for $19.99.

Please note that a Hue Bridge is required to use LightStrip, which is not included.

The number one complaint about these LightStrips has been the adhesive tape, which these refurbished units do not include. Reviews suggest using Gorilla tape, 3M tape, or something similar to mount them.

Perfect, was looking for some of these to add indirect lighting in a difficult room. The code only applies to a single item per order, so to get two I had to place two separate orders.

These are controllable with your smarthpone and can also be controlled with voice via alexa/smart stuff
And they work in conjunction with other hue lights for "scene setting" which is actually pretty cool.
Though if you don't want all that high tech garbage, plain rgb lights are the way to go.

Well you still need a controller and power supply and the connections. I build my own too with a dresden controller for my cabinets. I can see this useful in small projects though.

Are these also color, or just shades of white?

No sticky back is a Killer for me, don't want to buy 3m double side and try to cut it to the strip shape

Can you use Groupon gift cards on Livingsocial?

If so, then you can save even more through the PPDG sale on eBay.
