YI Technology's Lite Action Camera has just seen a price drop from its regular price of $99 on Amazon to just $79.99 thanks to a coupon code. That's good enough for a 20% discount, and a pretty great price for a 4K action camera. You'll need to use the promo code VY5FUXE7 at checkout to get this price

Spec page from Yi:
https://www.yitechnology.com/yi-lite-specs

Highlights:
Can shoot 4k@15fps, 1440p@30, 1080p@60/30, 720p@120/60/30.
EIS for everything but the 4k and 720p@120.
16mp still photos, which is better than the Yi 4k and Yi 4k+ models.

I dont really care too much about the 4k @ 15fps. Any other reason not to get this over the 4k+??

I was gonna say that I wish I bought this instead of the Yi 4k I got on prime day for $125, but it seems like the next highest resolution after 4k is only 1080p for this version. Nothing in between like the the Yi 4k has (2.7k).

But man, only $80? That's about $100 cheaper than the Yi 4k and $260 cheaper than the 4k+.

It has 1440p@30fps as well, from Yi's spec page. I agree still though, that the Yi 4k for $125 was probably the better deal.
I got it cuz I've wanted an action cam for a while and I'm hoping this will scratch the itch.

Yi is a sub-company of Xiaomi; their more popular products are probably their action cams. The lite is just to note that it is technically capable of 4k recording, but just barely. Probably best to just treat it as a 1440p/1080p action camera and judge its value based on that (which I personally think still passes the value test?)

Is there a waterproof case for this? Thinking of selling my gopro hero 2 with all the accessories for this...but I need it for waterproof footage which I invested a lot of accessories for on the gp hero 2.

The fake 4K's are usually good for 1080@60 FPS that won't overheat (hypothetically)
The 30fps 4K cams are good for 2k@60 and won't overheat (hypothetically)
The 4K+'s that are rated at 4k@60fps are still a heat issue but should be okay at the lower ranges.

I'd say there's no reason to really buy 30fps action cameras anymore unless they dip into the 30-40 range here on SD. After tests I find that the 60 are just much smoother and don't give you that jutter type effect. No I'm not talking about the 24fps 'cinematic' feel either.. the jutter is pronounced and I've noticed it a lot more in my older videos where I had an old GoPro 2 1080@30 vs a knockoff 1080@60.
